Plans for projects by category in Sales Tax I


If approved, Sales Tax I will continue to fund critical projects and improvements in the following categories. The sales tax is estimated to generate approximately $79 million over 10 years.

public works

$46,800,000 (59%)
City-County joint projects, street overlay program, transit and airport support as match to federal funds, sidewalk repair and improvements, stormwater improvement and rehab, and local roadway grant matching.

public safety

$15,900,000 (20%)
Fire station renovations, fire apparatus lease payments and equipment replacement
Police field equipment, building renovations and upgrades, communications equipment, and more.

Parks

$7,900,000 (10%)
Recreation facility improvements, park improvements and upgrades, continued development and maintenance of greenway trails, and more.

Technology

$1,600,000 (2%)
Computers, software, and peripherals, network hardware, digital imagery, GIS support, and more.

Contigency

$7,100,000 (9%)
Supports emerging projects, economic development opportunities, and any cost variances that are identified in projects and improvements. 

city-county projects

$24 million total with the City and County each contributing $12 million – Plans for 2027-2037 include a menu of priority infrastructure projects to include intersection improvements, road repairs and rehabilitation, and more.
